Burgundy & Plaid

Happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone's week is going well!

I've been on the hunt for corduroy skinny jeans for a long time. While grabbing dinner with a girlfriend, we wandered into Anthropologie and came across these burgundy colored pants. Burgundy is the "it" color of the season. I'm 5'6'', not really tall, but for some reason it's challenging to find pants that are long enough. These pants are the perfect length and don't lose their shape. Anthropologie carries these pants in seven different colors and patterns. Let's just say, I want EVERY one!

When wearing colored or patterned pants, pair with the same clothes as you would any regular denim. These pants look great with a black blazer, black boots, and a leopard print scarf. Or with a chunky grey sweater. Don't be afraid to mix different textures, patterns, and prints when wearing colored pants.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Today's post will be a little shorter. I think I'm still in a turkey and wine haze from the last couple of days...

A few weeks back, Nordstrom had their Half-Yearly Sale. I went a little crazy. 40% off of great brands. Ummm...yes, please! The minute I came across this sweater, I had to have it. A total statement piece. This sweater is a play on a classic draped sweater, but with a twist.

This sweater can we worn every season. Layer over a white button up shirt when it gets colder. Over a red pencil skirt and heels. With white pants. Or over a dress.

Thanks for reading!

Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend?

I don't know about you, but lately I feel like a kid on the last day of school. Thanksgiving break is quickly approaching. I love Thanksgiving. What's better than turkey, gravy and LOTS of wine? I also LOVE cooking and baking. I don't get to cook enough. This year I'll be making a bourbon pecan pie and a pumpkin bread pudding. Since I rarely cook, I never repeat recipes. I'm always trying new ones. It's how I approach many things in life. I rarely eat at the same restaurant. If I do, I always order something new. Life's too short to not try new food, wine, adventures, and outfits.

I was never into silk. I used to think it looked too 1980s. That's until I scored this silk top from Zara. Now I have three different silk tops in my closet...

This shirt is another example of a great transitional piece. Goes well with a pencil skirt. Or a paired with colored skinny jeans and some boots.

Do you wear silk?

Floral Print & Military

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I always try and maximize my wardrobe, so I never store my seasonal clothes. I wear them year round and pair in a way that works for that season. In this outfit, I paired a summer floral tank top with a military jacket to bring this outfit into Fall. Layering is key in transitioning seasonal outfits. That's why I invest in jackets, sweaters and blazers.

I'm obsessed with these cowboy boots. They're my single favorite clothing item, and very sentimental. They've seen many country concerts and lots of adventures. For me, they encompass City Girl Meets Country. I wear my cowboy boots year round. I've actually tried to implement "Cowboy Boot Fridays" in my office. Let's just say, most people aren't as big of a country fan as I am.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Or as I like to call it "Wine Wednesday!" Tonight you'll find me on my sofa with my "Redneck Wine Glass" in hand watching Top Chef and Duck Dynasty.

After looking through my closet, I realized I don't own a lot of skirts. Half of my closet is filled with dresses. But only a couple of skirts. Not sure why? Might be that it's more challenging for me to find a skirt that's the right length or fit and flare.

This fitted houndstooth pencil skirt may have turned me into a skirt person. It's just the right length to pair with suede boots or booties. Also pair with a denim shirt and a chunky necklace to country it up a little bit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Faux Leather Dress

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Winter is almost here. I'm taking advantage of being able to wear dresses without tights for as long as I can...

I love this dress. It's very city. I love how it blends textures and colors, blending black faux leather with olive green paneling. I also paired it with a gold chain belt to break up the dress, and helps tie in the black and gold heels I'm wearing.

This dress would be great with a blazer or a grey wool coat and booties. Perfect for a night out on the town.

TIP: When ordering from ASOS, order a size up. Most of their sizes are European.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Mine was a blast! Fridays are typically "Kate Time," which consists of takeout, a nice bottle of wine, and trashy TV. Instead, I grabbed dinner with my cousin and a couple of close friends.

My cousin and I are very close. She actually lives 3 doors down from me...until yesterday. She moved a whole two blocks away. I know. I know. It's not that far, but I'm a little sad about it. So sad that we had a pseudo goodbye party at a Italian restaurant Friday night. Maybe a little over the top?

Anyways, I always talk about mixing patterns and textures together to complete an outfit. Today I took my advice literally. I mixed this great leopard detailed sweater dress and paired it with a leopard scarf. This dress is so soft and cozy. The length is a bit short, but gives way to being either a dress or a long sweater.

I'm always on the hunt for a great sweater dress. Any great stores I should be checking out?

Happy Friday, everyone!

My "Friday Favorites" are here! I'm a country girl at heart, so I had to do a post all about country pieces that I'm craving. I seriously want everything here. These pieces are a perfect blend of modern country with a hint of city.

What you'll learn about me is I wear cowboy boots at least once a week. Cowboy boots go with everything. With a dress, blazer, shorts or denim. You can see my cowboy boots here

I'm always on the hunt for country clothing. Share with me some of your favorite places to shop.

Camo & Houndstooth

Shirt: Boutique - similar (here) and (here)  ||  Blazer: H&M (old) similar (here) and (here)  ||  Pants: Gap (sold out) similar (here) and (here)  ||  Heels: Zara (old) similar (here)  ||  Necklace: Forever 21 (old) great version (here)  ||  Scarf: Target (here)  ||  Watch: Anthropologie (old) similar (here)  ||  Glasses: Ray-Bans (here

If there is one single piece of clothing I could wear everyday, it would be these camo pants. I'm OBSESSED with camo. It's become a really big problem. I've had to limit the amount of camo I buy. Camo stands out so much that I can only rotate these pants into my wardrobe once every 3 weeks. Sad.

To me, this outfit is the perfect blend of "City Meets Country Girl!" A classic blazer paired with country camo denim. I also love blending styles and patterns, so I added this great houndstooth scarf from Target to add a little something extra to this outfit.

TIP: When styling camo, I treat it like any other denim. You can pair with a stripe shirt, jean jacket, and sneakers. Or with brown boots and a sweater. Although it's a busy pattern, it really is a blank canvas.

How do you wear camo?
