Bodycon Aztec Print Dress

Dress: ASOS (old) similar (here) and (here) and (here)  ||  Boots: Haute Look (old) similar (here)  ||  Glasses: Ray-Bans (here)  ||  Watch: Anthropologie (here)  ||  Clutch: Mossimo via Target (here)  ||  Ring: Forever 21 (old) similar (here) and (here)  ||  Scarf: Lucky Brand (here)

As you can tell, I LOVE dresses. I've featured a different dress in just about every post. That or vests :)

When I shop, I always try and add variety to my wardrobe, varying types, fits, and patterns of dresses. A majority of my dresses I've gotten from ASOS.

Bodycon style is really popular right now. I love this style because it's typically a cotton spandex fabric, and is really comfortable and form fitting.

This dress is another great piece that can be transformed a number of different ways. By changing out boots for pumps or stilettos. A less hippie scarf for a silk scarf. Or layered under a jean jacket or colored blazer.

A little advice when shopping at ASOS, always order a size up or two, since they're typically European sizes.

Detailed Peasant Top

Shirt: Anthropologie (old) great options (here) and (here)  ||  Pants: J-Brand (here)  ||  Shoes: Steve Madden (here)  ||  Watch: Michael Kors (old) great options (here) and (here)  ||  Bangles: Forever 21 (here)  ||  Glasses: Ray-Bans (here)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween weekend! Did you guys dress up?

I've never been a fan of Halloween. I don't know what it is about it. The dressing up. The crowds. The cover charges. The massive hangovers.

So this weekend, I opted to have a couple of close friends come over to enjoy some good wine and Fall/Halloween food. I cooked braised chicken in a lemon caper wine sauce, roasted garlic green beans, smashed sweet potatoes and skinny pumpkin parfaits. We had good intentions of carving pumpkins, but the wine got the best of us...

I'm all about statement, one-of-a-kind pieces. I scored this detailed peasant top from Anthropologie last Fall. It's a basic shirt, with a twist. I love the pop of color. That's the key for when I shop. I'm always looking for that statement piece that can be transitional. This shirt could easily be paired with a lace skirt and boots. Wear under a vest or a chambray shirt. You can also pair with different color denim to transition through the seasons.

Where do you shop to find those statement pieces?

Plaid & Fur

Shirt: Banana Republic (here)  ||  Vest: Target - Mossimo (here)  ||  Pants: 7 For All Mankind (here)  ||  Shoes: Candela via Haute Look (here) great options (here and here)  ||  Watch: Anthropologie (here)  ||  Bangles: Forever 21 (here)   ||  Glasses: Ray-Bans (here)

Jeans, boots, purses, jackets, and sunglasses I'll spend good money on. They're the foundation of a wardrobe.

Shirts and accessories, I always look for a good deal. ModClothAsosTarget, and Forever 21 are some great stores to find the latest styles at a low price. I scored this plaid vest at Target boots at Haute Look.

When I'm shopping at lower priced clothing stories, I always ask myself, "does it look like I bought it at Forever 21?" If the answer is YES, then DON'T buy it. If it looks like a higher-end brand, BUY it!

This outfit, I blended a classic crisp white shirt, with a country looking plaid vest. Try blending different styles like preppy with country. Or athletic with dressy. It will help maximize your wardrobe.

Now that Fall is officially here, it's time to stock up on sweaters. Here's what I'm craving lately. All these sweaters are transitional. Great over button ups. With a dress. Or layered over a skirt, leggings or skinnies.

Fall Whites

There are a couple of fashion rules that I have to break. Black and brown together. Jean on jean. And most importantly No White After Labor Day...

I can't live without my white J.Crew skinnies. I probably wear these at least once a week, no matter what time of year. These pants are a blank canvas. They go with everything. With a blazer and pumps. Or a plaid shirt with a vest and cowboy boots. Or a summery top and some wedge sandals.

I tend to pair soft textures, with torn and rugged clothes. The contrast provides a city meets country look. And a little something to complete the outfit. You'll see that herehere, and here.

What fashion rules do you break?

LBD (Little Black Dress)...and Stripes

Happy Wednesday, CGMC friends!

City Girl is coming out in full force today! Black dress. Check! Blazer. Check!  Strappy sandals. Check!

I wear dresses just about every day. Not too long ago, I would only rock them on special occasions. I think the cold San Francisco fog made me want to just bundle up in sweaters and my favorite jeans. Now, I need a separate closet for just my dresses.

This is a dress I scored from ASOS a few months ago. It's a new play on a LBD (Little Black Dress.) It's easy to dress this up for work with pointed toe pumps. Or transition to a night out by adding a leopard clutch and stilettos.

Aztec Print

My sister lives on a winery. Just steps away from an endless supply of wine. How cool is that?!? Or, if you're a wino like me, a lot of trouble...

The winery overlooks the Santa Cruz Mountains. Look at the amazing view behind me. Breathtaking, right?

I found this Aztec printed jacket at my favorite boutique. It's so different from anything else I have in my closet. I love the idea of pairing this jacket with a LBD (Little Black Dress) and boots, to dress it up for a day in the city.

Thanks for reading my blog today, CGMC followers!

Jade & Blue

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was jam packed with lots of family time. My twin sister recently got engaged, so we officially celebrated with a Mexican themed Engagement Party.

My older sister, Kelly, and two of her kids flew in from Florida to celebrate. Kelly and I may live thousands of miles away, but we somehow always end up buying the same clothes, without even knowing it. Sometimes I think she's my identical twin...

We both love clothes, styling and fashion. We're constantly texting each other pictures of clothes we just bought or are craving. We attempt to follow a "Rule of Two" (often failing), where if one of us find a piece of clothing that stands out, that we have to buy two - one for each of us.

My sisters had input into styling this outfit. I've never been drawn to green, but after putting this sweater on, I'm hooked. This is a classic sweater with a twist. I love the elbow patches and the buttons that run up the side.

What do you guys think of this outfit?

Friday Favorites: Black & White

Happy Friday, everyone! The weekend is finally here! My twin sister recently got engaged, and this weekend is her engagement party. I'm excited to share pictures of the party (and my outfits) with you very soon!

Black and white color combos never go out of fashion. This season especially! It's a blank canvas to pair with any textures, colors, or prints. It's taking all of my willpower to not buy everything here!

J.Brand is my favorite brand of jeans. They're always true to size, never stretch out, and last forever. I actually just bought the grey jeans pictured above, they'll be featured in my blog a lot!

What are some of your favorite black and white outfit combinations?
